Blessed Good Friday

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

1 Peter 2:24

Greetings to you this Passion Week! Today, as we commemorate and remember Christ death on the cross, may we also remember His immeasurable love for us. He never fails us nor forsakes us. Even the sacrifice that Christ gave on the cross as a ransom for many (Mark 10:35). What a Savior!

The Old Rugged Cross

Author: George Bennard (1913)

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
the emblem of suffering and shame;
and I love that old cross where the dearest and best
for a world of lost sinners was slain.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
and exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
has a wondrous attraction for me;
for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above
to bear it to dark Calvary. [Refrain]

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
a wondrous beauty I see,
for ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
to pardon and sanctify me. [Refrain]

To that old rugged cross I will ever be true,
its shame and reproach gladly bear;
then he’ll call me some day to my home far away,
where his glory forever I’ll share. [Refrain]

Wounded For Me

Author (st. 1): W. G. Ovens; Author (v2-5): Gladys Westcott Roberts

Wounded for me, wounded for me,
Wounded for me, He was wounded for me.
Gone my transgressions and now I am free,
All because Jesus was wounded for me.

Dying for me, dying for me,
Dying for me, He was dying for me.
Gone my transgressions and now I am free,
All because Jesus was dying for me.

Risen for me, risen for me,
Risen for me, He is risen for me.
Gone my transgressions and now I am free,
All because Jesus is risen for me.

Coming for me, coming for me,
Coming for me, He is coming for me.
Then with what joy His dear face I shall see;
Oh, how I praise Him, He’s coming for me.

For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.

Mark 9:31

May God’s peace and blessings be with you and your family this Passion Week as you remember Christ’s death on the cross and this upcoming Easter Sunday. 🙂

He was lifted up to die;
"It is finished" was his cry;
now in heaven exalted high:
Hallelujah, what a Savior!

Here’s two hymns that we have recorded on HHIZ’s YouTube channel to remember Christ’s death on the cross.

In Christ,
